The team at Hurstville Physio Plus wish you a happy and safe Christmas and New Year's break!

The practice will re-open on Thursday, January 2. Greg returns from his holidays on Tuesday, January 14.

With Christmas and New Year's fast approaching, you'll likely find yourself spending a lot of time sitting and eating.

There is a growing body of evidence that links the amount of time spent sitting to illness and even death. The Harvard Health blog quotes that “minimizing long periods of inactivity, like exercising during commercial breaks, can help reduce the risk of injury and may even help you live longer."

Easy exercises to try during the ad break include: stand ups, calf stretches and single leg balance.

Recent research has found that only 15% of pregnant women are following current exercise guidelines during pregnancy, i.e. >20 minutes of moderate intensity activity, at least 3 times/week.

Following these exercise guidelines in mid-pregnancy has been shown to reduce the prevalence of low-back pain, pelvic girdle pain and depression in late pregnancy.
