It's Healthy Weight Week! An initiative of the Dietitians Association of Australia, Healthy Weight Week is designed to raises awareness of the importance of achieving and maintaining a healthy weight and a healthy lifestyle.

Being overweight puts you at a higher risk of developing heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and stroke. In addition, it puts an excessive load on your joints, muscles and ligaments, leading to an increased risk of osteoarthritis and low back pain.

Talk to our exercise physiologist or physios to develop a safe exercise program!

With the kids back at school, they may be complaining of heavy backpacks. It seems these days kids have to carry around half a classroom! Books, sports gear, laptops - it's no wonder they're struggling!

The Australian Physiotherapy Association has some tips about safe backpack behaviour:
* Kids should carry less than 10 per cent of their body weight in their back packs
* Pack the heaviest items close to the spine
* Wear the backpack over both shoulders
