Physiotherapists play a pivotal role in the recovery and care of clients covered by workers compensation, addressing their injuries or health issues arising from their occupational activities. The main objective is to help restore optimal physical function, alleviate pain, and improve overall well-being.
Our physiotherapists are all accredited with SIRA for Work Cover injuries and specifically trained in all aspects of returning to work. We liaise with the nominated treating doctor, case manager, designated return to work coordinator and rehabilitation consultants to ensure a coordinated approach to treatment and recovery.
How physiotherapy support clients with a workers compensation injury:
- Assessment and diagnosis to understand the nature and extent of the injury, including range of motion, strength, flexibility, and identifying any functional limitations
- Treatment planning tailored to the specific needs and goals treatment
- Pain management including manual therapy, other treatment modalities, therapeutic exercises and education on pain management strategies
- Functional rehabilitation to restore functional abilities necessary for the individual to return to work safely
- Education on proper body mechanics and ergonomics
- Work place rehabilitation to help with a smooth transition back to work
- Progress monitoring regularly and adjusting the treatment plan as needed
- Psychosocial support and motivation, addressing any mental health aspects that may affect the recovery process
- Documentation and reporting of assessments, treatments, and progress for the nominated doctor, insurance companies, employers, and other stakeholders.
By addressing the physical, functional, and psychological aspects of injuries, physiotherapists contribute significantly to the rehabilitation and successful return-to-work outcomes for workers compensation clients.
